Chapter 15

Zhou and Kang’s father had a thousand words to say to their daughter but didn’t know how to express them.

Now that their daughter held a different status as the honored Noble Consort, surrounded by eunuchs and palace staff, they found it even more difficult to speak.

“Father, why have you gained so much weight?” Kang Yu Yi began with a smile, though her voice carried a thick nasal sound.

“And Mother…” Her nose tinged with tears, and she choked up, unable to continue.

Kang Yu Yi wanted to collapse into her parents’ arms and cry out, sharing her feelings of confusion and fear after unexpectedly becoming a princess.

But then she remembered the disturbing memory that surfaced last night.

Her mother, Zhou, had given her a potent aphrodisiac without consulting her, locking her in a remote compound to make her the concubine of a royal cousin.

If she hadn’t managed to escape that day or had not reached the Qin Shizi’s room in time, and had been met by a vile man…

Her heart was filled with bitterness and a mix of grievances and anger.

Seeing his daughter in such distress, Kang’s father was heartbroken and unsure how to comfort her, only able to feel anxious and helpless.

Zhou had harbored resentment over the years.

“This cruel Yu’er! After being pampered by her parents until sixteen, she became the Emperor’s concubine and suddenly cut off all contact!”

Now that they saw her after many years, and observed her pitiable state, their resentment and anger dissipated instantly.

“Your Highness, how have the past few years been in the palace?” Father Kang asked cautiously, rubbing his hands.

“Please just call me Yu’er, Father! I can’t stand you addressing me like that…” Kang Yu Yi said with a pout.

Though she had grown accustomed to being called “Your Highness,” hearing her parents address her so formally made her uncomfortable.

“Alright, alright, Yu’er, my good girl!” Father Kang said, tears streaming down his plump face.

Zhou couldn’t help but cover her face and cry as well.

The Crown Prince, sitting on the soft couch, waved his little hand at Kang Yu Yi, babbling and chattering in baby talk.

Kang Yu Yi’s heart softened; she wiped her tears, stepped forward, and shook his chubby little hand.

The little fat prince, finally receiving her response, brightened up instantly. He raised his tiny hands high and babbled a lot of incomprehensible “baby talk.”

The nursemaid, seeing that the consort was flushed but not displeased, boldly said, “Your Highness, His Highness wants you to hold him!”

Upon hearing this, Kang Yu Yi picked up the pampered little prince.

The Crown Prince was strong and solid, having inherited his physique from the Emperor. He had a good appetite and was heavier than other children his age, making it a bit tiring for Kang Yu Yi to hold him.

Kang’s father and Zhou couldn’t resist coming closer. This was their grandchild, and they were delighted to see him.

The little prince blinked his round eyes and grinned, occasionally rubbing against his mother’s soft and fragrant embrace.

But soon he looked very sleepy, his eyes half-closed, and his little head resting on Kang Yu Yi’s chest as he drifted off to sleep.

It was well past the Crown Prince’s usual nap time, but seeing his beloved mother, he stayed spirited until now.

The nursemaid promptly took the child from Kang Yu Yi and carried him to a soft bed inside.

They should have greeted the Empress Dowager before leaving Renshou Palace, but since she still claimed to be ill and did not want to see any visitors, they had no choice but to leave the palace.

As they passed through a long, empty street, Kang Yu Yi dismissed her personal attendants, Zisu and Qingzhu, and was alone with Zhou and Kang’s father.

After a moment of hesitation, Kang Yu Yi couldn’t hold back her question, “Mother, seven years ago, did you really want me to become a concubine for Qin Shizi’s cousin?”

“Huh? What cousin?” Zhou was confused and didn’t understand what she meant.

“It’s… the maternal nephew of the Empress Dowager, the cousin who used to stay at the Qin Wang Mansion from time to time,” Kang Yu Yi said, pursing her lips.

Having been away from the Qin Wang Mansion for many years, Zhou, now over forty, had long forgotten the details from that time. Only when Kang Yu Yi mentioned it did she recall such a person.

“Oh, you mean the cousin from the Cui family.” Zhou was puzzled and immediately became angry. “Are you saying I wanted you to be his concubine? That’s nonsense it never happened!”

Zhou, known for her fiery temper was so upset by the baseless accusation that she didn’t care about her daughter’s current status as a Noble Consort.

Kang Yu Yi, with a stern expression continued to press, “Wasn’t it you who accepted the marriage proposal from Mr. Cui back then?”

Seeing her disbelief, Zhou became furious and insisted, “From start to finish, all I wanted was for you to be Qin Shizi’s concubine; there was never any talk of a cousin!”

Kang Yu Yi was stunned, realizing that her mother’s insistence seemed sincere.

Could it be that Liao Jing Yi acted on her own? Or was it really that rumored cousin?

Late at night, in the inner chamber of Lu Hua Palace.

Kang Yu Yi stared blankly at the intricately carved dragon and phoenix motifs on the rosewood bed, replaying her conversation with her mother from earlier in the day.

Despite the day’s exhausting events, she couldn’t sleep, tossing and turning restlessly.

The Emperor, sleeping lightly outside the bed, had not fallen asleep due to her movements.

Kang Yu Yi suddenly felt a surge of emotion and sat up slightly.

She had never closely examined the face of His Highness, the current Emperor.

In the past, while at the Qin Wang Mansion, she had been intimidated by his cold and dignified demeanor.

Now, having learned that he had become the Emperor, she was even more reluctant to look directly at him.

She noticed his thick, well-groomed eyebrows, with their ends rising and slanting towards his temples—standard sword-shaped eyebrows. His nose was high and straight, and his lips were thin, forming an attractive shape.

As her gaze lingered on him, the Emperor suddenly opened his eyes and met her clear, soulful gaze, momentarily losing his composure.

Kang Yu Yi, caught in the act, awkwardly smiled, feeling embarrassed, and turned to lie down.

The Emperor, not letting her escape, quickly pulled her into his embrace, his lips brushing against her small, soft ear. “Why aren’t you sleeping, hmm?”

Kang Yu Yi struggled a bit, but the Emperor, accustomed to martial arts and remarkably strong, easily held her despite her efforts.

His hot breath against her ear, his voice deep and husky, asked, “Can’t sleep? Is it because you want to do it?”

“No… not!” Kang Yu Yi’s heart raced in fear at his words, and her fair cheeks flushed crimson.

Since he became aware of her unusual behavior, the Emperor had not vented his desires in real combat for several days.

Now, with her soft, warm body in his arms, his desire quickly grew, pressing against her thighs.

The Emperor’s mouth took her tender earlobe, gently sucking on it.

His gaze traveled downward, and when he saw her full, rounded breasts, his throat moved up and down involuntarily.

The Emperor kissed her slender neck patiently, moving down to her delicate collarbone, covering it with kisses.

“Hmm… not?” Kang Yu Yi’s body, already highly sensitive, began to respond as her arousal started to flow.

Through the thin, damp clothing, the Emperor touched her already moist undergarments and let out a soft laugh.

Kang Yu Yi blushed deeply from his laughter, her body trembling uncontrollably, and more nectar flowed from her.

“Good girl, you used to love this from me…” The Emperor, trying not to frighten her, surprisingly showed a gentler side, attempting to soothe her.
