Matching
Back in college, Yu Xiaoman and Chu Xia had a thing going on for a while.
It wasn’t ambiguous, they were just getting closer.
When they were freshmen, Chu Xia and Yu Xiaoman worked as part-time tutors for the same family, teaching the older brother and younger sister respectively. The villa area was inconvenient for taking the bus. If they happened to be teaching at the same time, they would take a taxi back to school together.
Several times, they were seen by their classmates.
Everyone gossiped and said that they were secretly in love. Although they tried to explain the situation, no one believed it. Thus, they didn’t bother to explain it after a while.
Back then, they were pushed to be together whenever there was any activity in the class. They were also pushed to sing love songs together when they went to KTV. They were also pushed to representatives…
Yu Xiaoman was a bit interested in Chu Xia at that time. She was straightforward, unlike Liang Shiyun who had a professor mother. Thus, she naturally had no issues to overcome.
Gradually, this fake couple was starting to evolve into a real couple.
Until later, when Liang Shiyun started to appear more because of the competition, and Yu Xiaoman suddenly decided to switch departments for some reason.
“That’s all in the past. What is there to be jealous about?” Chu Xia said.
He wasn’t going to pretend to be sentimental. He didn’t think that Yu Xiaoman would still be interested in him. But based on Yu Xiaoman’s actions at the reunion, that was not the case.
From the moment he arrived at the tea garden, she showed a different enthusiasm for him. While picking tea, she was by his side and she asked him how he has been doing in the past few years. Some classmates made a joke, but she didn’t mind, and asked him if she still had a chance.
Everyone saw what was happening. They acted like they were matchmakers and let them be alone on one side of the mountain.
Chu Xia looked for Liang Shiyun in the crowd.
She didn’t get involved, and she didn’t gossip with her classmates. Most of the time she was chatting with Gao Yan, and he didn’t know what they were chatting about so happily.
After visiting the tea garden, Gao Yan took everyone to the villa to eat a private meal.
The free-range chickens and fish raised in the tea garden were all excellent. After drinking and eating, everyone chatted around the tea table. The waiters brewed the green tea they picked and roasted in the morning into tea glasses that they put in front of everyone.
Yu Xiaoman went out, and when she came back, she had two boxes in her hand. “I just remembered that I had cookies from yesterday’s baking class in the car. I brought them to share with everyone over tea!”
A box was pushed in front of Liang Shiyun. She took a look, it was a blueberry cookie.
She quit sugar recently, and only picked up a piece and took a bite to be nice. She didn’t finish it.
Everyone complimented it.
Yu Xiaoman then looked at Chu Xia. “Try one too.”
As she spoke, she pushed the box closer to him, looking at him eagerly.
Chu Xia didn’t reach for one. He turned his head slightly, and glanced at Liang Shiyun.
Liang Shiyun wasn’t just an untouchable beauty, she was a jealous person.
When he was in college, a girl who had a crush on him once gave him a green tea flavored cake that she made for his birthday. Liang Shiyun was superficially generous and said, “You can accept it if you want to.” Later, when they ate together, she always ordered a piece of cake, and it had to be green tea flavored.
She would only eat a little bit. Then she pushed it to him so it wouldn’t go to waste.
He got tired of it after a few times, so one day, he finally had to say, “If you can’t finish it, don’t buy it.”
In the end, she said, “But you like this kind of cake, and I don’t know how to make it.”
Liang Shiyun’s jealousy was always like this: Extreme calm and indirect.
When Chu Xia and Liang Shiyun officially dated, Yu Xiaoman had already transferred to another department. But for some reason, she didn’t move to a different dormitory right away. Thus, when there were any hangouts in the class, everyone would still call her.
Since he had a girlfriend, Chu Xia would not let everyone make jokes about him and Yu Xiaoman, but even so, Liang Shiyun was still jealous.
When he thought of all the jealousy from Liang Shiyun in the past, Chu Xia looked away and said directly, “I’m afraid I can’t have sweets.”
What he said was not really nice since Yu Xiaoman’s actions towards Chu Xia were so obvious. Yet, Chu Xia refused to even taste the cookie. It was such an unconvincing excuse
Yu Xiaoman was a little embarrassed. What made her even more embarrassed when a female classmate suddenly asked, “Xiaoman, did you really do this yourself?”
“Now that you mention it, it tastes like Chi Patisserie. The shape also looks like…” the female classmate said. Then she asked, “Xiaoman, you are working part time at Chi Patisserie?”
Chi Patisserie was a popular online bakery in this city. Yu Xiaoman was a designer for a foreign company specializing in pet furniture…
There was something called “even if you see it, don’t say it”.
The female classmate might have made a mistake for the taste. But as for whether Yu Xiaoman made the cookies herself or ordered it, it was a bit embarrassing.
As soon as she said this, the atmosphere suddenly froze.
In the eerie silence, Liang Shiyun took another bite of the cookie in her hand. “It’s not too sweet.”
“It pairs well with tea,” she said. Then she turned to look at Yu Xiaoman next to her, “In my opinion, it’s as good as Chi Patisserie. You should think about opening a store, and running Chi Patisserie out of business.”
A male student was the first to react and joked, “Yes, yes, Xiaoman, someday you can stop designing, and you can open a bakery,”
Everyone said something to quickly get over the awkward atmosphere.
Chu Xia snorted. He finally picked up the cookie in front of him, and took a bite.
Yu Xiaoman glanced at him and turned her head away.
Liang Shiyun stood up and asked Gao Yan. “Is there a guest room upstairs?”
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m just a little sleepy, I want to take a nap.”
“I’ll take you.”
“No, just tell me, I’ll just go by myself.”
Gao Yan then pointed out the direction for Liang Shiyun.
Liang Shiyun wiped her hands and went upstairs. She patted Yu Xiaoman on the shoulder when she left. Yu Xiaoman understood, and immediately gave Liang Shiyun a grateful smile. She then took a napkin and moved it to the vacant spot.
