Realization

When Liang Shiyun woke up the next day, she only felt a headache.

Her whole body was so sore that she didn’t have any strength. She frowned. It was only after the pain that made her unable to think went away when she gradually felt the temperature of the other person.

Chu Xia was embracing her, and was looking at her with a gentle gaze.

Liang Shiyun moved her body and sat up. Their overlapping body parts were still slightly damp with sweat.

She backed away a little, and pulled down the T-shirt that Chu Xia found for her as pajamas last night to cover herself up. Her panties had been thrown away somewhere long ago.

She took a deep breath, put on the slippers and went to the bathroom.

He still has the toiletries from the previous time she stayed.

Liang Shiyun stood in the shower for a long time. When she came out, Chu Xia was making breakfast on the stove.

He put cubes of butter into the pan and watched the yellow solid slowly melt into a clear yellow liquid. Then he put the slices of bread down.

The smell of the butter gradually filled the room.

He turned off the flame, put the frying pan aside, and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows. There were several scratches of different sizes on them.

These were made by Liang Shiyun yesterday.

They kissed passionately on the sofa, caressed each other in the bedroom, climaxed, shouted each other’s name, and hugged each other in the bathroom…

Memories emerged through her mind in pieces. Liang Shiyun remembered that she kissed Chu Xia first. Moreover, judging from the soreness all over, especially her waist and abdomen, this really did happen and it was not a dream.

Liang Shiyun looked at Chu Xia who was busy in the kitchen, and wondered if it would be too much to reject him again.

Fortunately, before she could speak, Chu Xia brought out the steaming breakfast. “The congee is ready. Come and eat some hot food.”

Okay, she was going to eat first.

Breakfast was light congee with some spinach in it. Liang Shiyun drank alcohol last night, and her stomach felt tight. After eating the congee, she felt better, and the bowl filled her appetite.

Chu Xia didn’t eat much. He didn’t say anything, he just waited quietly for her to eat.

Liang Shiyun finished her breakfast, wiped her mouth, and then began to think about what to say. “Yesterday…”

Chu Xia looked up at her. “You were drunk yesterday.”

Liang Shiyun: “…”

Her words were stolen by him, and she didn’t know what to say all of a sudden.

“Well, do you remember what you said?” Chu Xia asked.

Liang Shiyun: “…”

She only remembered that she was drunk, and she really didn’t remember what she said specifically

Chu Xia then helped her remember. “You said let’s get married.”

“?!” Liang Shiyun’s eyes widened.

They looked at each other. The man sitting across from her seemed to have expected her reaction. There was no surprise in his expression, but his eyes slightly dimmed, as if he was a little bit disappointed.

“Your original words were—” He lowered his eyes, wiped his mouth, looked up at her again, and imitated her tone, “Chu Xia, let’s get married. Let’s have a child who is as smart as you and as beautiful as me.”

Liang Shiyun’s lips parted. She tried to say something several times, but nothing came out, as if she had lost her voice.

At first, she thought Chu Xia was teasing her .

But when he talked about having a child, she was sure it was something she could say.

During college, she dreamed about their future, their marriage, and that if they even had children, they must be smart and cute… It’s just that it felt too far away for them when they hadn’t graduated yet. Liang Shiyun just thought of it at a certain moment in time, but didn’t mention it to Chu Xia.

But she never thought she would tell him in such a way.

Liang Shiyun looked at Chu Xia.

After so many years, he had not changed much.

His eyes, nose, lips—the contours were still stern, but the profile as a whole was more resolute.

The smell on his body was still the same—faint, earthy, like the smell of grass after the rain.

And one thing that did not change was that the broad, firm chest. It was still so warm. When she used him as a pillow, her sleep was always more comfortable and better than when she was alone.

Since the reunion, she had been trying to convince herself that she just wanted to sleep with him. If possible, she would get revenge and let him taste the feeling of being dumped, but it might not even be one tenth of what happened to her.

But it wasn’t until this moment that she realized that the so-called wanting to sleep with him, and the so-called revenge, might be just an excuse to indulge herself to get close to him again.

People liked to say that getting drunk gave a person an opportunity to be crazy, which was not true.

It was the opposite. A person hid or disguised themselves when they were sober, and it was precisely when they were drunk that they revealed their true selves—their true character.

And her unrestrained thoughts after being drunk just happened to be exposed—she didn’t actually let him go.
