第 41 章
Let’s Break Up
After meeting her parents, Chu Xia treated Liang Shiyun even better.
The studio was not officially opened yet. Although Chu Xia was busy, he worked at home most of the time, and he started to study cooking during his break between work.
It was mainly soup.
Liang Shiyun’s meals were mostly covered outside, but she could have some soup when she came back at night.
Fish maw, black chicken, snow pear, bird’s nest, radish, and hairtail… Most of these ingredients for soups nourished the yin and qi. Liang Shiyun never thought that one day Chu Xia would “wash his hands and make soup” for her – but he did.
Liang Shiyun had to admit that she liked this feeling—the feeling that someone was waiting for her after returning home.
The current Chu Xia could be described as a model boyfriend. In addition to taking the initiative to cook, he sent her all kinds of thoughtful messages and small surprises every day. He always complimented her as the first comment in Moments. Every day before going to bed, he insisted on chatting with her for a while, even if she was on a business trip. He would call her after she finished her work, and when she was getting tired, he would do most of the talking about work, current affairs, and some family matters until he coaxed her to sleep
Chu Xia was not that kind of lovey-dovey person.
Liang Shiyun felt this flattery was to compensate for the past, which made her somewhat unsure what to say about it.
Finally, Chu Xia spoke up.
“Is there something wrong with the company?” He had noticed something wrong with Liang Shiyun for a long time, so he had to ask.
“The company may go through a transfer,” Liang Shiyun said in a low voice.
“This…” Chu Xia didn’t expect it to be such a serious matter, and immediately frowned. “What problems did you encounter?”
He thought for a while and added, “Although I may not be able to help, if it is a business problem—”
“No.” Liang Shiyun interrupted him.“It’s not about the business ending, it’s just that my father’s illness has relapsed.”
“When did it happen?!” Chu Xia was surprised. He looked at Liang Shiyun nervously and he grabbed her hand, thinking he needed to take on some of her worries.
Liang Shiyun was very calm, as if she had already taken it in as a fact. She only sighed slightly. “The last time he saw you, the diagnosis had already been made, but he kept it to himself. My brother accidentally exposed it a few days ago.”
Chu Xia: “…”
He didn’t know what to say for a moment.
He had heard from Liang Shiyun before about Liang Lida’s illness. It was a glioma of the brain. He had undergone surgery a few years ago, but he didn’t expect it to come back again.
Liang Shiyun continued, “In the past few years, under my management, the company has not been running smoothly. Many things have to be left to my father to make a decision on. The company is not at the point where it cannot continue to operate since it is still profitable. But it’s not as good as before. I’ve been trying my best to hold on. I wanted to wait for Xiao Yi to take over later, but you can see that he is still too young, and he is too impatient. If he has to shoulder the burden, I don’t know how long it will take for him to be ready.”
“The transfer of the company was brought up by my father. He probably saw that I was so exhausted in the past few years, or maybe he found out that I am not suitable for business at all—anyway, I think it might be a good thing to transfer the business, so that he can at least have a peace of mind about it, receive treatment and rest,” Liang Shiyun explained.
“No matter what, I will support you.” Chu Xia stated.
“…” Liang Shiyun fell silent.
“What’s wrong?” Chu Xia tightened his grip on her hand.
Liang Shiyun lowered her head and thought for a while as if she was considering her words. She then said softly, “If the company successfully completes the transfer, I want to persuade my dad to go abroad for treatment.”
There was not much difference between domestic and foreign countries when it came to general medical technology. But for advanced technology, the gap between their country and foreign countries was at least 20 years.
Chu Xia was stunned for a moment. Hesuddenly had a bad feeling, but he still nodded. “I heard that it is indeed more advanced abroad.”
“Well,” Liang Shiyun continued. “The treatment process will be quite long. My stepmother’s English is a mess, and I don’t feel confident about it. I want to go with my dad and take care of him while studying for a graduate degree.”
She had always liked design, but was forced to take over the company that she was not happy with, and was not good at it. In the past few years, the company has sold a lot of assets
Although the transfer of the company was proposed by Liang Lida, Liang Shiyun was looking for a suitable CEO long before that. At the same time, she was applying for overseas graduate programs.
“Which school?” So far, Chu Xia had understood Liang Shiyun’s intentions, and unconsciously let go of her hand.
“Berkeley.” Liang Shiyun pulled her hand out of his. “I applied at the end of last year. I wasn’t sure if I should apply. I just wanted to try—”
“Did you receive an acceptance recently?” Chu Xia frowned.
“Not recently.” Liang Shiyun shook her head. “I received it in April.”
It was only when she was accepted that she realized that finding a suitable professional CEO was not as easy as she had imagined. In addition, not long after that, she reunited with Chu Xia, so she decided to give up the offer. Until now…
Liang Shiyun stopped talking, and looked at Chu Xia quietly. There were only the words “let’s break up” in her eyes.
“Two years?” Chu Xia was silent, and it took a long time for another question to come out of his throat.
“Yeah, two years.” Liang Shiyun nodded, and said without looking away. “School will start at the end of next month.”
