Marriage Reminder

Liang Shiyun came back for less than a week and left again.

The long-distance relationship for a second time was not as difficult as they had imagined.

Maybe it was age. Everyone’s need for emotional support was not too high. They simply shared a little bit of each other’s daily life every day, and listening to each other’s voice before going to bed was enough.

It didn’t matter if their messages were replied in a timely manner. After so many things that happened, Liang Shiyun and Chu Xia trusted each other a lot. They knew that the other would always reply when they were not busy, so they didn’t have any wild thoughts or worry about keeping score.

The hardest part was when they missed each other a lot.

At this point, Liang Shiyun would usually call Chu Xia to listen to his voice, or even the sound of breathing. Meanwhile, Chu Xia liked to look through photos of Liang Shiyun.

Before Liang Shiyun left, he took many photos of her.

Among them was a photo of them holding hands. He used it as the background image on Moments. He declared that this grass had a master1, which helped him block a lot of unnecessary peach blossoms.

Of course, the photo did not show Liang Shiyun’s face. After all, there was Fang Yuan to consider. As Liang Shiyun’s mother, Fang Yuan had the right to know about their relationship and it should not come from others.

On New Year’s Day, Liang Shiyun came back, and it just so happened that Fang Yuan invited Chu Xia to dinner. They thought it was an opportunity to tell Fang Yuan about their relationship.

They went to Fang Yuan’s house together, and when Liang Shiyun was about to enter the door, she suddenly became a little nervous. Chu Xia pressed Liang Shiyun’s hand to comfort her.

But when the door was opened, Liang Shiyun let go.

Fang Shiya blinked at the two of them. “Hey, you two arrived together again, it can’t be a coincidence that you met downstairs, right?”

She was on the balcony just now, and happened to see them getting out of the same car. She was about to go to the door, but saw the two secretly holding hands through the door hole. She immediately realized the secret relationship between them.

“Cough, cough—” Liang Shiyun came to confess their relationship tonight, so she wasn’t afraid of Fang Shiya figuring it out. Thus, she just took the things in Chu Xia’s hand and pushed them onto Fang Shiya. “I just heard mom calling for you. Wwhy don’t you go to the kitchen and serve the food.”

Dinner was cooked by Fang Yuan, and the table was full of plates. Most of the food  were home-cooked dishes, and it was a taste that Liang Shiyun did not have abroad.

While Fang Shiya was rambling about her new experiences in college, Liang Shiyun only concentrated on eating. She occasionally answered a few questions from her stepfather and Fang Yuan.

It was a rare moment, but they mainly asked about Liang Lida’s illness, and whether she was used to being abroad. They did not urge for marriage, nor did they ask her about her relationship.

It might be because she was abroad, so even if Fang Yuan wanted to arrange a blind date for her, it was not practical. Or it might be because the trouble she went through last time ended up really bad

Liang Shiyun had these wild thoughts when she suddenly heard Fang Shiya bring up the topic for her. “Mom, last time our aunt told me about a potential boyfriend for my sister, and that guy’s qualifications seem to be quite good. Why don’t you tell my sister more about him?”

“She is such an adult, doesn’t she know about how to take care of that herself?” Fang Yuan uncharacteristically did not continue this topic.

Fang Shiya still didn’t give up, and looked at Liang Shiyun and Chu Xia again. “Oh, that’s  right, maybe there’s a real man by her side.”

There was no need to hide it for another hour or two, Liang Shiyun simply said, “Mom, I have to tell you something, I actually have a boyfriend.”

As she spoke, she grabbed the hand of the person next to her and placed it on the dining table.

Fang Yuan silently watched their action, but she didn’t seem particularly surprised. She just put down the bowl and chopsticks and stated, “I thought you two were planning to keep it a secret.”

After Liang Shiyun and Chu Xia reunited again, she went back to the US and Liang Lida noticed it almost immediately.

On the trip back, her whole mental state completely changed. She was often smiling on her phone. It went without saying that it must be love.

As for the candidate, besides Chu Xia, Liang Lida couldn’t think of another person.

He didn’t bother to beat around the bus, so he asked Chu Xia directly about it. After confirming that they were serious this time, he finally felt relieved.

However, Fang Yuan couldn’t let go.

Liang Lida knew that she liked to worry, so he mentioned it when they called each other. Of course, he didn’t mention Chu Xia directly, he only said that his daughter had a boyfriend, so as a mother, she should worry less.

But how could she not worry about it? Liang Shiyun didn’t have a boyfriend for so many years in their country, and suddenly had a boyfriend within a few months after going abroad?

Fang Yuan had to ask about the situation.

Liang Lida could only say that she also knew that person, he had a good personality, and he was in the same major as Liang Shiyun.

Fang Yuan was also a smart person. Once she thought about all these things, some other things became clear.

“When you were in college, you secretly fell in love behind my back. I know it, but I didn’t expose it—” Fang Yuan looked at them with an expression that said she was waiting for an explanation. “Now, you are not young anymore. Why do you need to be sneaky?”

Chu Xia: “…”

Liang Shiyun: “…”

“This is my fault.” After a moment of silence, Chu Xia decided to admit his mistake, and took the blame for the secret relationship between them in college and the failure to report it to her.

He wanted to explain more, but Fang Yuan interrupted him, “Your fault, well fine—you two are not young anymore, when are you going to get married?”
