Chen Yilin.

This was the name of the intern Yu Huan saw in the group.

As soon as Gao Yan led the intern into Fred’s office, everyone in the law firm who could avoid their manager and slack off started gossiping.

Yu Huan turned on the computer. She looked through the work for this week and the people gossiping from time to time. When she was about to go out to handle some work, Niettie was giving Chen Yilin a tour of the office.

“This is our work area. You were in Fred’s office just now. He is the most senior lawyer here and our boss. He is not here often, so we usually go find Rhys if anything comes up. He is a partner. His office is at the end of the hallway, the third door on the left…”

Niettie was petite. She was less than 160 cm. When she stood next to Chen Yilin, who was probably 180 cm, she looked like a Hobbit.

When Yu Huan went to work the next day, the receptionist had already set up a place for Chen Yilin.

At this moment, Chen Yilin was sitting alone in the office, looking through the glass wall and door while idly turning over the documents. He seemed a bit bored.

“If you need any help, you can give it to our intern @Yilin”

Fred gave out these instructions to the group early that morning.

However, no one said anything after the message was sent out.

There were a few second generation rich who had come to the law firm before. They usually worked just enough for their pay and to fool around. They left within two or three months, which was sometimes not enough time to finish up a big case.

For the second generation rich, all the workers usually helped them out, or they would have dinner together to become friends and build a good relationship. That way they could be introduced to new cases in the future— no one expected the intern to do anything seriously.

Chen Yilin was probably aware of this. He walked out of the office after being bored for a very long time.

“Lawyer An, can I help you with anything?” He had decided to take the initiative and chose the nearest desk to ask that question.

Amy looked up at Chen Yilin. She was a little surprised and looked like she couldn’t refuse. After she collected her thoughts, she took out a document and said, “Please help me make five copies of this.”

During lunchtime, Yu Huan looked around. No one was around, but someone was busy in the breakroom.

“It smells good,” a colleague passing by the breakroom muttered.

Yu Huan also smelled it, and it was probably the smell of black coffee. The smell in the room was drifting towards her office.

Yu Huan got up to take a break. She asked, “Are you making coffee?”

“Yes, I saw that everyone is very busy, but I can’t help them. I thought I should make some coffee to keep everyone awake,” Chen Yilin explained. He handed Yu Huan the cup in his hand. “Try it.”

It was a deep black coffee.

“… Not bad,” Yu Huan replied honestly.

“Really?” Chen Yilin lit up immediately, and he had a huge smile on his face. “I’ll go and give it to them now.”

The coffee was very fragrant. Ten minutes later, the whole office was filled with a strong coffee smell. Soon, Yu Huan was called into Rhys’s office.

“This coffee is pretty good, right?” Rhys sat on the office chair and held his cup up. “However, Mr. Gao didn’t have him come to learn how to make coffee for us.”

Yu Huan probably guessed what he meant. “Then we should find someone to train him.”

Rhys nodded. “You can train him for the next two months.”

“Me?”

“Well, you are qualified to lead an intern, and you should be nearly the same age. Besides, I have seen this child’s resume and he is from the same hometown as you.”

When Yu Huan came out of Rhys’s office, she asked Niettie for Chen Yilin’s resume.

The US college he went to did not have any rankings, but it was not a bad school. His major was in law, and a minor in computer science. His internship experience was diverse, but it wouldn’t help in a law firm.

Chen Yilin’s resume was not very impressive. If it wasn’t for Gao Yan’s relationship, it would have been difficult for him to enter this law firm.

As Yu Huan was thinking about it, she flipped the page. She suddenly saw that in the column for high school, Chen Yilin wrote that it was the No. 1 School in F City. This was the highest ranked school in the neighboring city, and it was also the school she and Gao Yan had attended.
