Cause Trouble
Yu Huan called Chen Yilin into the office and asked, “What’s your specialty?”
“Uum… criminal law,” Chen Yilin replied.
“Criminal law?” Yu Huan looked up from the desk.
The young man standing across from her felt the change in mood. “Yeah, but, uh, I majored in corporate law. In order to get a degree quickly, I took many specialized courses. Umm… right.”
“How do you like corporate law?”
“…” He was jammed.
“You’re not in an interview.” Yu Huan frowned slightly. “You don’t need to impress me.”
“Oh.” Chen Yilin suddenly realized this and cleared his throat. “I was afraid you won’t lead me.”
“What are you muttering about?”
“Nothing.” He shook his head and smiled back.
He smiled with curved eyes and faint dimples on his cheeks. He just showed an expression that she knew well in a way that she did not know well.
“Let’s go.” After coming back to reality, Yu Huan got up from her desk. “I’ll take you somewhere.”
“Archives?” Chen Yilin looked at the words on the door.
“Yeah.” Yu Huan pushed the door and went in. “You can sort out all the documents, information and evidence that the lawyers need to bring to the court on their appointed date. I will show you how things work, but for now I think we should start with some simple paperwork. I need you to file a case. You can use the previous files for reference here.”
Yu Huan pulled out a file and handed it to him.
“That doesn’t sound difficult,” Chen Yilin said. “So I’ll start now?”
“Yeahl, I’ve emailed you the material. Just send them to me before getting off work.” Yu Huan nodded.
Chen Yilin was very efficient. Two hours later, he handed the sorted documents to Yu Huan.
Just when it was time to leave work, he suddenly stood in front of her office door and knocked. His guilty eyes and disheveled hair gave her a bad feeling.
“What happened?”
“I want a list of the category files in the archives.”
Yu Huan looked at him very seriously. “What have you done?”
“I…” Chen Yilin hesitated. *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ ??? ??? ???? ?? .??? ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Yu Huan went past him and went straight to the archives. She stood at the door and saw that a file cabinet was empty and there was a pile of documents on the ground.
“What did you do?” Yu Huan asked.
“You said that if I was free, I should clean up the older documents and put them in a new cabinet…” Chen Yilin said. “I thought it would be easier to find the old records if I took these documents out and reordered them, but after I took them out, I realized I was a bit confused and…”
He pointed to the ground.
Yu Huan put her hand to her forehead. Fortunately, at this time, most of the other lawyers had already left. Yu Huan sighed. “Okay, I get it. I’ll go get the list right away. After that, you and I should tidy up these documents as soon as possible.”
“If you give me a list, I can—”
“How long will it take for you to do it alone?” Yu Huan glared at him. “What if someone comes by tomorrow morning to look for a document?”
“I…” Chen Yilin wanted to say something.
Yu Huan interrupted him, “Let’s hurry and group the folders. I’ll print out the list right now.”
Yu Huan came back after printing the list. They started to go through the documents and put them back in the cabinet according to the list.
There were too many documents. Not a moment later, Chen Yilin was kneeling on the floor next to her.
“Here, the first seven rows are the letter A…” He looked at the list, then grabbed the document he needed into his arms.
Yu Huan was wearing a skirt, so it was inconvenient for her to sit down. She had to squat down with high heels. When Chen Yilin saw her squatting, he said, “Why don’t you read it? I’ll look for it and then give it to you to put in the cabinet.”
As he said this, he handed her the list, then gestured to her with his chin that there was a chair behind her.
Yu Huan looked at his hand. She took the list, got up and sat down on the chair near him.
They were busy for two hours, and most of the documents were organized.
At this time, it was past the normal time people left work at. The sky outside was dark, and several nearby buildings were all lit up with bright lights.
Yu Huan knew that she had to work overtime, so she took out her mobile phone to order delivery. As soon as she turned it on, a message arrived. Yes, it was from Gao Yan. He asked, “Do you have any plans for the evening?”
Ha.
I did.
Yu Huan replied with a picture of the scattered papers on the ground, and said, “Thanks to your nephew, I’m working overtime.”
Almost instantly, he asked, “Did Yilin cause trouble?”
“Not really. He just got some documents mixed,” Yu Huan proceeded to reply. After waiting for a while, there was no reply.
Chen Yilin suddenly looked up and asked, “Boyfriend?”
Yu Huan: “Huh?”
“You’ve been staring at your mobile phone,” Chen Yilin said. “Is it your boyfriend?”
“No, it’s just a message from a friend.” Yu Huan opened the delivery app. “At this rate, I will have to work overtime. I’m going to order some delivery. What do you want to eat?”
“delivery…” Chen Yilin looked at the screen and said, “Um, whatever.”
They continued to work for more than an hour. At nearly 9 o’clock, they finally sorted out all the documents.
Yu Huan’s cell phone was out of power. When turned on her car and plugged it in, she saw two unread messages. One was a transfer from Chen Yilin. The note was “dinner”. Yu Huan said that he didn’t need to. After that, she switched to another unread message.
The message was from Gao Yan, who asked her three hours ago, “What were your original plans?”
“Swimming,” Yu Huan replied.
After a while, the phone vibrated again. “Are you done?”
Yu Huan: “Yeah.”
Gao Yan: “Do you still want to swim?”
At this point, the gym was closing soon. Besides, she couldn’t swim yet. Without a coach, swimming was really nothing but fooling around.
“It’s too late,” Yu Huan replied.
After a while, a message from Gao Yan came again. “Come to my house to swim.”
