Act Like a Spoiled Child
With Gao Yan’s trip, Yu Huan didn’t see him for half a month.
Yu Huan was busy with her work. She tried not to think about the physical emptiness she felt. During this busy time, Chen Yilin fell ill.
“Lawyer Yu, I have a cold. Can I take the day off today?”
On Tuesday morning, Yu Huan received a message from Chen Yilin before arriving at the law firm.
The case for Rhone Industries was going to be held in court in a few days. Although Yu Huan was not the main litigation lawyer, she was still busy sorting out the materials for it. She had been working overtime until nine or ten o’clock these days, and Chen Yilin insisted on accompanying her to work overtime.
She wondered if the air conditioning in the office was too low.
She thought of last time when Chen Yilin said he lived alone. Yu Huan couldn’t help it and had to call him.
The phone rang for a while before it was answered. Then came Chen Yilin’s weak voice, “Lawyer Yu…”
“How are you? It sounds serious. Have you gone to the hospital?” Yu Huan asked.
Chen Yilin was lying on the bed in a daze. It took him a while to react to Yu Huan’s words. “No.”
“But I took the medicine.” He focused his eyes on the over the counter cold medicine next to the bed. He slowly reached over and grabbed the cup.
The medicine he took in the morning made him sweat everywhere, and even his strength seemed to have evaporated out of him.
Despite this simple action, he was so tired that he was panting to breathe, and his head was even more dizzy.
He bent over and couldn’t stop coughing again.
Yu Huan frowned at the sound and asked, “Where do you live?”
Yu Huan brought medicine to the address given by Chen Yilin.
After entering the code, the door opened and there was an empty hallway.
While looking around, Yu Huan saw the partially open bedroom door. She knocked and pushed it. Inside, the curtains were tightly closed, and in the dark room, Chen Yilin laid on the bed. His hands were outside of the blanket and he was curled up in a ball.
“Yilin—”
Yu Huan walked up to him and squatted in front of the bed. He was frowning in the darkness, as if he was experiencing an unhappy dream.
“Yilin, wake up, let me help you take your temperature.”
Yu Huan said his name again and took out the thermometer she had bought earlier that day.
The person on the bed woke up from the cold touch. He raised his head and recognized the face of the other person. “Lawyer Yu…”
His voice was even more hoarse than when he answered the phone. His breath was unusually hot. When he brushed Yu Huan’s hand, it was hot.
“… Did you really take the medicine?” Yu Huan asked.
“Yes,” Chen Yilin pointed next to his bed.
As he moved, his head was dizzy again. He had to lie down and close his eyes.
Yu Huan took a look at the box. It was just common cold medicine.
“Just this?” Yu Huan raised her eyebrow.
Fortunately, Chen Yilin’s temperature was not too high.
She dug through her bag again. After a while, she found a bag of medicine and said, “Let me make you a cup of medicine from these granules.”
“Traditional Chinese medicine?” He grabbed her hand and shook his head. “I’m not used to traditional Chinese medicine.”
“But your throat…”
LI want to drink white fungus and pear soup,” Chen Yilin suddenly said.
He looked at Yu Huan, his eyes were as wide as a deer. He even shook her hand like a spoiled child.
Yu Huan lowered her head and looked at his pitiful eyes. It was as if tears were about to come out in the next second. After a while, she responded, “Okay, wait a moment.”
Yu Huan helped Chen Yilin cover himself with a blanket and left his room.
It was still early in the morning. Food orders were not taken until 10:30. Most restaurants outside the community were still closed.
After driving around the neighborhood, Yu Huan reluctantly drove to the supermarket.
Gao Yan received a text message from Chen Yilin the moment he got off the plane.
“Uncle, I have a cold. It’s very serious.”
“Uncle, are you back today?” After that it was a crying expression.
Chen Yilin was spoiled as a child by Gao Nan like he was precious. Gao Yan sometimes felt that he was simply as delicate as a princess.
He gave him a call with a bit of disgruntledness.
No one answered the call for a while.
Maybe it really was serious.
Gao Yan hung up and handed his luggage to the driver and said, “Don’t go back to Leshang yet, take me to Yilin.”
Half an hour later, Gao Yan went to Chen Yilin’s apartment with medicine and breakfast.
Before he could enter the code, he could faintly hear a noise coming from the kitchen.
Since Chen Yilin moved to his apartment, he knew that he had bought a lot of things, including kitchen utensils, but it was just there as decor.
So who was cooking?
He opened the door with suspicions, and then saw Yu Huan, who was busy in the kitchen.
