Extra 2 – Vacation at the Seaside Part 1

During the vacation season, the beach was crowded with families wading the waters, couples walking on the boardwalk holding hands, and children playing in the sand.

Several seagulls swarmed the air, and the sun was shining on the water.

Chen Yilin let out a scream near the stern of the boat and watched Gao Yan put bait on the hook.

“Can’t we use something other than worms?” He looked at the wiggling live bait with some apprehension.

Gao Yan glanced at him and asked, “Should we use your beauty?”

Chen Yilin was used to his uncle’s serious jokes. He looked around. “Can we use hot dogs?”

“You can try.” Gao Yan didn’t bother with him and threw the fishing line into the water.

“Why do I feel like I’m definitely not going to catch anything?” Chen Yilin muttered. He tore off a piece of the hot dog and put it on the hook.

The salty sea breeze blew. Yu Huan sat on the deck bench of the yacht and looked away from the book in her hands. The uncle and nephew threw the fishing line into the sea.

When Chen Yilin came over, she asked, “Are you afraid of worms?”

“It’s whatever.” Chen Yilin was a bit embarrassed by what he said just now and poured himself a glass of water. “We want to eat fish and if the fish eats the worm, then it’s like we are eating worms.”

Yu Huan: “What do you think lobsters eat?”

Chen Yilin remembered the lobster he ate for the past few days, and his expression turned uncomfortable. “Maybe it’s better if I go swimming.”

“Can I borrow your sunscreen?” he asked and took off his shirt.

Yu Huan threw it over. Chen Yilin caught it. He squeezed some onto his hand, and began to rub it into his shoulders.

Chen Yilin usually looked thin and his skin was really white with his clothes off.

Yu Huan watched as his slender hand moved across the smooth skin. He covered the front of his body and arms easily. Reaching his back shoulder was harder.

He turned his head and looked at Yu Huan. “Can you help me?”

“Okay.” Yu Huan moved over and motioned for Chen Yilin to sit down.

He sat down on the cushion next to her. When he was about to hand over the bottle, another hand grabbed it.

“I’ll do it for you.”

Gao Yan put a hand on Chen Yilin’s shoulder and forced him up. He squeezed a large lump of sunscreen into his hand and put it on Chen Yilin’s back.

Chen Yilin suddenly screamed.

Yu Huan turned to the stern of the boat and saw Gao Yan’s fishing line drag.

“The fish is hooked!” Chen Yilin shouted. He ignored the sunscreen and ran towards the fishing rod.

Yu Huan stood up and wanted to follow. However, Gao Yan pulled her down and said, “Let him go.”

“Do you feel better?” He put his arms around her waist and pulled her towards him.

Yu Huan leaned against his chest and nodded, “I’m much better today.”

She was on vacation, but as soon as she got off the plane, she was not used to the place and felt like vomiting after eating anything. Her mood was also affected.

In the afternoon, Chen Yilin proposed to go surfing, but Gao Yan changed it to sea fishing to accommodate her.

“You and Chen Yilin can go and play, don’t worry about me.” Yu Huan felt a bit apologetic. “I’m fine basking in the sun here.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Gao Yan’s lips touched her forehead.

“Sunscreen?”

She was wearing a tank top. Her shoulders and most of her back exposed. The sun was very bright here, and she had to occasionally apply another layer of sunscreen.

“Okay.” Yu Huan turned over and laid down on the bench.

Gao Yan brushed her hair away. He squeezed out more sunscreen, and carefully and smoothly rubbed it down her neck and shoulders.

“Whoohoo!” Chen Yilin worked really hard to pull the fish up. He grabbed the big fish and turned his head to see Gao Yan applying sunscreen on Yu Huan on the deck.

Compared to how Gao Yan rudely applied sunscreen on Chen Yilin, the way he was applying sunscreen to Yu Huan was much more meticulous and gentle.

This was not the first time Chen Yilin had been treated differently.

Yu Huan used to take Chen Yilin out to socialize. When they were all drunk, Gao Yan came to pick them up. He shook Chen Yilin awake without saying a word. Then, he would walk up to Yu Huan and gently carry her to the car.

When they went to eat together, Gao Yan remembered Yu Huan’s preferences, but he often forgot Chen Yilin’s preferences.

Every time Yu Huan was in the navigator seat, his uncle carefully helped her adjust the seat. When he was in it, Gao Yan would only tell him where the button was and let him adjust it himself.

Since Gao Yan and Yu Huan were together, Chen Yilin had been eating too much dog food and eventually got used to it. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have the cheek to be a third wheel.

Chen Yilin returned to the bow. He took the fish hook out of the fish’s mouth and threw it into a bucket. He took another piece of bait again, and threw the line into the sea.

After Yu Huan and Gao Yan finished talking, Yu Huan finally asked “What fish did you catch?”

“A big black one,” Chen Yilin replied. “It’ll be dinner.”

He picked up the bucket and showed it to Yu Huan, then he asked, “Lawyer Yu, can you cook this?”

“I can try,” Yu Huan said.

Chen Yilin hesitated.

“Are you worried about my cooking skills?” Yu Huan asked.

Chen Yi shook his head and said, “I was wondering if I should change what I call you.”

Since Yu Huan and his uncle got together, Chen Yilin felt that “Lawyer Yu” didn’t make sense.

It was fine when he was at the firm, but he had completed his internship now, so this title sounded even more awkward.

He tried not to call her Lawyer Yu since he was on vacation, but sometimes it was impossible to address her without that title.

“I think it’s better to call you Lawyer Yu.” Chen Yilin struggled with what to call her. “Or should I call you Sister Huan? Master? Huanhuan?”

“Huanhuan?”

Cough. Cough. Yu Huan nearly choked on the water.

She didn’t like being called Huanhuan. It sounded like the name of a puppy, especially when it came from Chen Yilin.

Yu Huan thought for a moment. “You can call me by my English name.”

“Yeah! Why didn’t I think of that?”Chen Yilin suddenly exclaimed.

Gao Yan came out of the cabin after washing his hands and said, “Call her aunt.”

“Huh?”

Wasn’t that fast? He never let him call his ex girlfriends that.

Chen Yilin looked at Gao Yan in disbelief. “Aunt?”

Gao Yan corrected, “Remove the questioning tone.”

“Okay.” Chen Yilin turned to look at Yu Huan again and cleared his throat. After a long time, he called out, “Aunt.”
