Chapter 15 Part 1 – Ex-boyfriend

Yu Huan studied college in the capital. It was more than 1,000 kilometers north of here.

The reason why Yu Huan chose such a far away place was because she had never been outside of F City before. She always wanted to go far away and see the world. Her teacher recommended that she go to school in the capital.

College life was not very different from high school life. You study, participate in club activities, dress up, and fall in love

Yu Huan’s first love began when she was a sophomore.

The person was a senior in the department next door. They had known each other since Yu Huan was a freshman. They were in the same club from the same department. The senior was the president of the club, and also the guy who was talked about often by Yu Huan’s roommates in the dormitory.

At first, Yu Huan didn’t talk about him much, and she didn’t realize the reason why her roommates were obsessed with him. He had good looks and impressive debating skills, and she gradually recognized how great he was after listening to the roommates talk about him more.

So later, when the senior showed that he liked her and began to pursue her, her roommates were bribed in various ways to assist him. Eventually, Yu Huan agreed.

Like this, they started a relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

At first, Yu Huan didn’t like him that much, but she fell for the cliche. They would always develop feelings after developing dependence and love for the other person.

By the time it was graduation, Yu Huan had decided to stay in the capital.

My boyfriend was also not from the capital. His parents continuously asked him to go back and would use their network to arrange a good job for him.

Although her boyfriend decided to stay in the capital because of Yu Huan, they still broke up after three years.

It was because of the pressures of life, because of the widening differences in their views after living together, because of how busy they were that they neglected each other’s feelings, and because Yu Huan’s salary gradually surpassed her boyfriend and his self-esteem began to subtly tip the scales.

Three years after Yu Huan graduated, her boyfriend proposed to break up. He decided to go back to his hometown and accept his parent’s arrangement.

He didn’t even ask her if she would like to go back with him.

Yu Huan was forced to accept it and break up.

What came after the breakup had a huge effect. Even if she didn’t feel anything at that moment, even if she knew that the relationship was over, some parts of her brain still couldn’t get past it.  It made her want to contact him and remember the things they did together again and again…

Yu Huan continued to endure living in the capital for half a year. Finally, a serious illness happened, and she chose to return to her current city because her father said, “Come back.”

Compared to the capital, her current place had a better climate and was closer to home. It was also an international city and she did not have to worry about growth opportunities in her work. There were also shortcomings. She did not have any alumni in the legal field and did not have any build contacts. It was almost equivalent to starting over again.

Fortunately, Yu Huan had just turned 24 because she started school early and worked for 3 years after graduation.

She could endure the hardships and learn things quickly.

She found a new job, picked herself up and got busy again.

Her parents knew that her last relationship ended badly, and they didn’t mention it again. But after her 25th birthday, they began to worry and began to persuade her not to concentrate on work so much.

Yu Huan couldn’t stand the constant nagging from her parents. She occasionally looked through some of the blind dates introduced to her by friends or relatives. If they matched, she would meet up with him and chat.

It was through this that she met her second boyfriend, Teng Senwen.

Speaking of this, Yu Huan looked down on Teng Senwen in the beginning because she was someone who thought looks were important.

But she also knew rationally that the most important thing for considering a man was not his face. In addition to that, he did not show any ulterior motives for sex, and only told her that they should try to understand each other as friends.

Yu Huan agreed.

They exchanged WeChat, and Teng Senwen began to reach out to her. He was not like the other blind dates who said good morning and good night every day. Instead, he would pick out some interesting things in his life to share with her.

Yu Huan was very busy at work during that time. There were many times where she couldn’t reply to the messages in time, and he didn’t care. No matter when she replied, his attitude was still good. Moreover, he could always reply to the conversation properly when it was about to die off, so that the conversation could continue on.

When her 26th birthday came around, Yu Huan had no one to celebrate with. Coincidentally, Teng Senwen asked her if she wanted to try a new restaurant together that day, and she agreed.

It might have been because her expectations had dramatically lowered since they had already met up before, or maybe the familiarity produced a certain image about him, or perhaps he happened to have carefully cleaned up that day.

On the other hand, Yu Huan didn’t have an issue with him.
