第 14 章
First Kiss
After coming out of Liang Shiyun’s house, Chu Xia took a deep breath.
Liang Shiyun’s obvious refusal made him feel troubled. At this moment, there was a message from his cell phone. It was a message from Gao Yan asking him how he was thinking about the coworking space.
Chu Xia thought for a while. “When are you free? Let’s meet and talk.”
Soon, Gao Yan messaged back. “I have time now, I will wait for you in Shiwei.”
Shiwei was a well-known private restaurant in this city. Chu Xia went to the private room based on the room number Gao Yan gave him. He pushed the door open, and saw a few teacups messily placed on the pine tea table. Gao Yan was holding a document, frowning in thought.
“You’re here! Sit down first, I’ll ask someone to make tea.” After seeing Chu Xia come in, Gao Yan put out the cigarette in his hand and pressed the service bell.
Chu Xia glanced at the documents in Gao Yan’s hand. He didn’t bother him, and waited for the waiter to clear the tea table before sitting down across from him.
Gao Yan threw the document aside, reheated a tea cup and handed it to him. “After taking a break for such a long period of time, it should be enough. How about it? Do you want to set up a coworking space with me?”
“Well, I’ve figured out what I want to do,”Chu Xia said. “I want to start an office architectural design firm myself.”
“Office?” Gao Yan, who was washing the tea set with hot water, paused for a moment.
Architectural design was not bad, but at this time, it was not profitable to do this.
Generally speaking, the profit of this kind of firm was only 15% to 30%. It depended on the projects, and there were too many influencing factors. Plus there was Chu Xia’s personality of pursuing perfection, and working an additional month or two. The profit rate would be halved immediately.
“You’re still into design?” Gao Yan was puzzled. “It seems like you really love this line of work, why didn’t you just stay in the US?”
If he really wanted to do design that much, there were more opportunities abroad. And in the past few years, he had been living abroad. No matter what factors were considered, it was the best choice for Chu Xia to stay abroad.
“Maybe I’m getting old and homesick,” Chu Xia said.
Homesick? Gao Yan didn’t believe it.
He put the newly changed tea leaves into the hot teacup. He looked up and caught a glimpse of the faint mark on Chu Xia’s neck. He joked, “Do you miss home or do you miss someone?”
Chu Xia didn’t say a word, but frowned.
He wasn’t going to turn back now.
Gao Yan looked at Chu Xia who was frowning, and suddenly became curious. “How did you chase her down in the first place?”
Hearing this, Chu Xia frowned even more.
From the beginning, he never chased Liang Shiyun.
He admitted that when he first had impure thoughts about Liang Shiyun, he did pay attention to her for a while.
But, at that time, he didn’t intend to fall in love.
He knew that it was just hormones—even if he really wanted to fall in love, he probably wouldn’t chase her. There were a lot of girls around him, so he didn’t need to chase anyone.
They accidentally established a relationship, and it could be blamed on the rain—the summer torrential rain.
When he came out of the library that day, it suddenly started to rain when the clouds were clear further away. Liang Shiyun happened to bring an umbrella, so they walked together.
He was taller, so he held the umbrella.
The rain poured down with a bit of mist. They walked side by side on the sidewalk. Liang Shiyun was discussing something with him as usual.
She didn’t notice a puddle, and he helped her out.
When her shoulder bumped into his arm, he smelled something. He didn’t know whether it was her hair or her body, but he couldn’t pay attention to what she was saying for a while. He only saw her opening and closing her small mouth. It was like two pink peach petals, and it attracted him to commit a crime.
“Shiyun—” he suddenly said. “—what shampoo do you use?”
“?” Liang Shiyun turned her head.
The rain suddenly became heavier. The raindrops on the umbrella was like beating drums. It isolated them in the whole world as if they were the only two left.
She didn’t hear him clearly, and looked up at him suspiciously.
He looked at her approaching face, and just like that, he just lowered his head and kissed her.
The umbrella tipped a little, and when he kissed her, his shoulder became wet.
Afterwards, Liang Shiyun took out a tissue and handed it to him.
She had turned her eyes away, and her face was red.
It was just like when she asked him if he had a girlfriend, or when she brought him her foreign language books from home, or when she shared her favorite songs with him, or when his stomach was exposed while he was sleeping and she carefully helped him cover it…
It was already obvious back then.
It was like he had uncovered the truth, but Liang Shiyun was also pretty direct.
When he was abroad, he didn’t think that he would miss her that much at first, but after breaking up, he always missed her.
He missed the feeling of hugging her from behind; he missed the way she looked when she was standing on her toes to kiss him; he missed those afternoons, when the sun was shining into the library and as he looked up, she was sitting quietly across from him; and he missed those nights when he pressed her on the bed, kissed her, and forced her to call out his name over and over again…
Liang Shiyun looked cold on the outside and hid things deeply, but in reality, emotionally, her mind was straightforward and simple.
Her love for him was always shown on her face.
If she was still the same as before, maybe he didn’t need to be so devious and cautious at all.
But six years had passed, and she had obviously changed and matured a lot.
She dressed up to discuss business with Gao Yan. She would flirt with a little fresh meat and admit that it was just going to be a one-night stand.
And on alumni reunion day.
She looked at him with those deep eyes that could be extremely tender in an instant. It was as if they were filled with endless affection, but in a blink of an eye, there was nothing.
With Liang Shiyun the way she was now, he was not sure of who she was anymore.
